Acoustic foam for sound and heat insulation in vehicles

The traditionalists among us like to turn to well-proven solutions. Our two PU foam classics, soni 491 SK and soni 471Ä SK have been in use for years, successfully minimizing noise and providing temperature insulation of engine compartments and in vehicle interiors. Of course, both materials meet the fire standards for the automotive industry as set down in FMVSS 302 and DIN 75200.

soni 491 SK consists of a polyurethane ether foam that is highly resistant to hydrolysis and thus scores with significantly higher ageing stability than the more commonly used ester foam.

The base material is coated with a micro-perforated film that very effectively prevents the penetration of dirt and liquids while allowing through the sound that is to be absorbed. Additional advantage: The smooth film surface is easy to clean.

Polyurethane ether foam is also the base material for our soni 471Ä SK product, which offers a similarly high degree of hydrolysis resistance as soni 491 SK. As an additional feature, soni 471Ä SK is thermally embossed with a diamond-shaped pattern, which not only densifies its surface but also further improves its acoustic performance, specifically in the frequency range of engines. At the same time, the embossing makes for a particularly attractive appearance.

Both versions are self-adhesive and are available in thicknesses of 10 and 20 mm. The materials are easy to cut to the desired shape with a carpet knife.
