soni PYRAMIDE
Our pyramid-profiled foam soni PYRAMIDE is a highly efficient noise-control product made from open-cell melamine foam (Basotect®). soni PYRAMIDE scores with exceptional sound-absorption properties and a visually very attractive surface design. soni PYRAMIDE meets the fire safety standards DIN EN ISO 13501 and DIN 4102 (flame-retardant) as required for the construction industry. This means that you can use soni PYRAMIDE acoustic panels as wall and ceiling liners wherever you need to reduce the noise level with materials that meet strict fire safety regulations. soni PYRAMIDE is highly resistant to aging, free of mineral fibers and physiologically safe. Especially in recording studios, soni PYRAMIDE is a preferred wall-mounted sound absorber. Please note: We do not recommend soni PYRAMIDE for use on wall areas that are liable to be hit or touched, as the sound insulation panels are sensitive to mechanical stress.  soni PYRAMIDE is easy to cut to the desired size and shape with a carpet knife. For glue fixation we recommend our soniflex SPECIAL ADHESIVE. For all cases where the noise-control material is not to be applied directly to the surface, our foam spirals can be used as a practical alternative for suspension from the ceiling.

soni 491 STL
soni 491 STL – Sound insulation board with heavy foil for effective wall and ceiling insulation Combined sound insulation and sound absorption in one product Our soni 491 STL sound insulation board is a highly effective PUR foam-based sound insulation product that is additionally combined with a heavy bitumen foil. The acoustic foam with sound-permeable foil ensures optimum sound absorption, while the bitumen layer effectively insulates and blocks sound. This intelligent combination of materials combines both sound insulation and sound absorption properties in a single product – ideal for anyone who wants to effectively reduce noise and create a quieter environment. Areas of application – versatile, efficient and reliable soni 491 STL is used wherever noise and sound transmission needs to be reduced – for example: ✔ Wall insulation between neighbouring flats ✔ Partition walls or ceilings in apartment buildings ✔ Technical rooms, machine rooms or workshops ✔ Cellars, garages and house walls The sound insulation board is ideal for retrofitting existing walls or ceilings with sound insulation – for example, by constructing a facing shell or cladding partition walls. Tip for constructing a facing shell: A facing shell is a very effective way of significantly improving wall insulation between neighbouring properties. Here's how to do it: 1. Attach battens: Attach 30 mm or 50 mm thick wooden battens to the wall. Use our soni NBR sealing tape to insert an elastic layer between the wall and the battens. This prevents sound bridges. 2. Insert sound insulation boards: Fill the gaps with soni 491 STL to achieve both sound insulation and sound absorption. 3. Attach cladding: Screw plasterboard or chipboard onto the battens. 4. Decoupling & joint sealing: Separate the construction from the floor, ceiling and adjacent walls with a small gap and seal the joints with acrylate for maximum insulation performance. Tip: In our experience report ‘Neighbourhood / facing shell’, you will find a practical example of how soni 491 STL can significantly improve the sound insulation of a wall. Alternative with visible surface: soni COMPOSITE If plasterboard cladding is too costly for you, we recommend our soni COMPOSITE as an alternative. This material combines sound insulation and sound absorption like soni 491 STL, but has a decorative felt surface in various colours – perfect for visible areas. Advantages of soni 491 STL at a glance ✔ Combined sound and heat insulation ✔ Heavy bitumen foil for high sound insulation ✔ PUR foam for strong sound absorption ✔ Wipeable, micro-perforated surface ✔ Self-adhesive and easy to process ✔ Effective noise reduction between neighbouring flats ✔ Ideal for facing shells, wall insulation, ceiling cladding ✔ Easy installation with a cutter knife and adhesive surface

PUR foam panels with dimpled soni WAVE in a mobile partition wall as sound insulation in a recording studio

Why is the use of studio absorbers important?

Absorbers have a key function in improving the acoustic conditions in recording studios. By reducing flutter echoes and comb-filter effects, they ensure clearer sound reproduction and optimize the listening environment. This is crucial, since uncontrolled sound reflections can significantly impair the sound quality.

Please note that room acoustic/sound-conditioning solutions are not the same as sound insulation measures: While sound insulation aims to prevent the transmission of sound events to adjacent rooms, room acoustics focuses on improving the acoustic conditions within the room through the use of materials that absorb unwanted sounds in the mid and high frequency range.

Sound-conditioning of recording studios: Our solutions for optimum sound control

High-quality product options: Our studio absorbers enable a variety of solutions to meet different acoustic challenges. The soni WAVE absorber is ideal for reducing reverberation and can be installed flexibly on walls and ceilings.

For a greater sound insulation effect, we recommend soni PYRAMIDE panels, which are made of melamine foam and ensure a high level of sound absorption. There is also our soni COMPOSITE broadband absorber, a combination of PUR foam and heavy layer, that absorbs a wide range of frequencies and ensures across-the-board sound reduction. These products are designed to be easy to install and integrate seamlessly into different room designs.

Improving sound quality for perfect recordings

Holistic sound optimization: Studio absorbers optimize sound quality by controlling the sound events in the room. They reduce reverberation and unpleasant sound effects to achieve a more precise sound reproduction.

The absorbers are made of high-quality shape-retaining materials whose characteristics guarantee long-lasting performance and prevent the acoustic panels from sagging or deforming over time. This high quality is crucial for the long-term effectiveness of our products.
