The black polyester non-woven is extremely robust as well as oil- and fuel-repellent. Due to the resistant non-woven surface, soni DECOR is widely used in technical applications. Sound insulation for machines | technical equipment | compressors

As a rule, any machine, whether large or small, will generate noise. The resulting noise level can be very unpleasant. This is why we recommend enclosing the machine or other equipment with a noise-reducing casing - ideally at a distance of about 30 cm from the actual noise source. The enclosure (made of wood, plastic or sheet metal) should be lined on the inside with sound-insulating material. Perfect for this use are our products soni RESIST, soni COMPOSITE and soni WAVE.

If the machine is located outside, our soni RESIST is the material of choice. It has both sound-absorbing and sound-insulating properties and hence an especially high overall soundproofing effect. Furthermore, soni RESIST is weather-resistant. If, in addition, the sound-absorbing material will be exposed to sunlight, we recommend our soni RESIST UV. With its unique UV stability, it is specially designed for outdoor use. For those particularly noisy compressors, the ideal choice is our soni SB 700, a highly sound-absorbing polyester fleece combined with a heavy layer. This optimum combination insulates and dampens in equal measure and thus provides excellent noise protection.

As a further measure, the utility room or workshop containing the compressor, ventilation/air conditioning equipment or a noisy machine can be insulated using sound-absorbing materials. Soundproofing a compressor

The noise from the refrigeration compressor installed in the commercial area was perceived as a nuisance in the flat above. Lining the ceiling with the sound-absorbing acoustic dimpled foam soni WAVE significantly reduced the noise level in the compressor room and, consequently, the noise transmission into the flat above.

Sound insulation of an air compressor

Our air compressor emitted so much noise that it was impossible for our employees to work right next to it. For this reason we built a solid-wood enclosure for the compressor. Then we lined the interior surfaces of the enclosure with the acoustically highly effective noise absorption foam soni WAVE 50 mm, with self-adhesive rear face.

The soni WAVE acoustic foam panels were easy to cut to size using an ordinary carpet knife. For installation, we removed the protective film from the self-adhesive layer on the rear face and then secured the fitted pieces on the corresponding surface areas.

In conjunction with the solid wood of the enclosure, the soni WAVE sound protection panels now ensure optimum acoustic insulation of our air compressor.

Sound insulation of a machine

As the noise level in the production hall was too high, soundproofing measures had to be implemented. The housing of a very loud saw was lined on the inside with soni RESIST acoustic panels – which are both sound-insulating and sound-absorbing – in a 50 mm thickness, with a non-adhesive backing.

Fitting the soundproofing panels made the machine significantly quieter. The noise level was reduced by a factor of several times.

The soundproofing mats can also be cut to size for sound insulation on machines so that they can be adapted to fit the machine or its enclosure. The sound emitted is optimally reduced by fitting these high-quality panels, so that everyone benefits from the new, quieter acoustics in the rooms.

Noise reduction in a basement boiler room

The installation of sound-absorbing soni WAVE acoustic foam panels on the ceiling of our basement boiler room has led to a substantial reduction of the noise from the boiler. The soni WAVE 30-mm noise reduction panels with self-adhesive rear face are perfectly suited for self-adhesive fixation on a smooth concrete ceiling.
As the soni WAVE panels on the ceiling reduce the noise level in the boiler room, considerably less noise is transmitted to the living space on the floor above.

In addition to covering the ceiling with sound-absorbing soni WAVE acoustic foam panels we had a sound insulation housing built around the heat pump in the boiler room. The inside of the housing is also lined with soni WAVE sound absorption material in order to achieve noise reduction right at the source.

The two noise reduction measures – which, by the way, are easy to carry out by skilled laypeople – now ensure optimum noise insulation of our boiler room.

Sound insulation of a swimming pool filter pump in a plant room

When the swimming pool filter pump was running, the noise level in the plant room was disturbing and could be heard outside. Installing soni WAVE 50 mm on the interior walls of the plant room significantly reduced the noise level.

Result: The acoustic panels significantly dampen the sound emitted by the swimming pool filter pump. Hardly any noise is audible outside the plant room.
