Description
Noise and heat insulation for cars | motorhomes | boats
When using motorized vehicles, loud engine noises, constant roaring or annoying clattering sounds often put an end to driving fun. Especially older vehicles often generate unnervingly loud noises. The remedy of choice here is to install heavy layers or a robust sound insulation material to prevent sheet metal parts, such as the vehicle’s floor or doors, from booming and vibrating. Our sound-deadening layers will stop sound waves from spreading throughout the vehicle. Thanks to their low thickness, our heavy layers (anti-drumming panels) soni HEAVY and soni EVA can be used also in places where space is limited.
We offer effective soundproofing solutions tailored to the specific requirements of vehicles, motorhomes and boats. soniflex acoustic products and soniflex acoustic foams are characterised by excellent sound-absorbing properties as well as thermal insulation, whilst meeting the automotive standard for flammability in accordance with FMVSS 302. The individual soundproofing mats can be easily cut to size, allowing them to be adapted without difficulty to the respective surfaces and their dimensions. The soundproofing mats are manufactured from high-quality materials. They can also be combined perfectly with other products from our shop.
A heat shield made from soni 1116 ALG is suitable for use in engine compartments, areas around or above the exhaust system and the catalytic converter, as well as for other locations that need to be protected from radiant heat. The fibreglass material is particularly popular in the area of the transmission tunnel and the exhaust system due to its high temperature resistance of up to 450 °C. In large machines, such as tractors or engines that generate a great deal of heat, soni 1116 ALG provides optimal insulation against the flow of heat between the engine compartment and the vehicle interior. Furthermore, the aluminium surface offers excellent protection against the ingress of oil, water and other liquids.
Testimonials
Sound insulation of a car/ motor
One of our clients tells us about sound-proofing his car: For the sound insulation of the motor compartment of a Caterham Super Seven, the acoustic panels soni WAVE, 30 mm, without self-adhesive rear face, were applied to the inside of the car body in the motor compartment. The result: Very satisfactory!!Our recommendation for soundproofing a car or vehicle:
If there are any openings between motor compartment and passenger compartment, we recommend sealing them, because even small gaps affect the sound insulation. Please note: soni WAVE is resistant against cold and heat from -40°C to +100°C.
Creative use of the soni desk partition - as impact protection in the garage

Other information
Soundproofing with sound-absorbing mats – less noise in rooms, cars or boats
Excessive noise and disruptive sound can quickly become a nuisance, not only indoors but also in vehicles, boats or machinery. However, with the right sound-absorbing mats and heavy-duty foils, noise levels can be effectively reduced – for greater comfort, better acoustics and a more pleasant environment.
At soniflex, you will find a wide selection of high-quality sound insulation and soundproofing products: from flexible foam mats to high-performance heavy-duty foils. These are ideal for insulating walls and ceilings – but also for use in technical applications such as cars, boat engines or machinery.
Soundproofing your car or boat yourself – less noise, more driving comfort
Soundproofing your car or boat offers huge benefits, particularly for hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts: by strategically using soundproofing mats in the car or heavy-duty foil in the engine compartment, vibrations, rumbling and engine noise can be significantly reduced.Whether you want to make your car quieter, soundproof your boat engine or minimise annoying noises in the cabin – with the right materials, you can achieve noticeable improvements:
✔ Reduction in engine and road noise
✔ Less vibration (dampening of rumbling)
✔ More pleasant conversation and greater enjoyment of music in the vehicle
✔ Greater comfort on long journeys or out on the water
Sound insulation even at high temperatures – solutions for high-temperature areas
For applications in high-temperature environments – such as in the engine compartments of cars or boats – a heat-resistant solution is essential. The soni 1116 ALG glass fibre sheet offers the ideal combination of sound insulation and heat protection.
It is particularly suitable for:
✔ Engine compartment insulation in cars and boats
✔ Machinery with high heat generation
✔ Technical applications with elevated temperature requirements
The robust glass fibre structure, combined with an aluminium laminate, allows for use even under demanding conditions – without compromising on sound insulation.
Our soni HEAVY and soni EVA soundproofing films are also particularly popular for sound insulation; thanks to their thin material thickness, they can be easily installed even where space is limited. They can be cut to size flexibly and applied directly to suitable surfaces – ideal for doors, bonnets, boot lids or boat hulls.
The right soundproofing solution for every application
To ensure that sound insulation is as effective as possible, choosing the right material is crucial. Depending on the application – whether in a building, vehicle or machine – requirements such as temperature resistance, material thickness and flexibility vary. You should therefore always take into account the specific product properties and the intended application when selecting your soundproofing mats and heavy-duty sheets.
