Our soni WAVE convoluted foam is a highly effective noise protection product made from moulded PUR foam. Sound waves are effectively absorbed by the air-permeable sealed surface (patented process). At the same time, the foam is oil, water and fuel repellent, making it robust, durable and versatile.

Overview of sound absorbers

What is convoluted foam and how does it work?

Convoluted foam such as soni WAVE absorbs sound waves thanks to its moulded surface. The wave structure increases sound absorption and reduces reverberation and background noise.


Why is convoluted foam better than smooth foam?

The characteristic dimpled structure significantly increases the surface area of the material. This allows more sound to be absorbed, especially in the mid and high frequency ranges.

The irregular surface of the convoluted foam scatters sound more effectively than smooth surfaces. This prevents targeted reflections and reduces reverberation, resulting in quieter and more pleasant room acoustics.

Thanks to its optimised shape, convoluted foam can often achieve a comparable or even better effect than smooth foam with less material – saving space and costs.


Where is soni WAVE used?

soni WAVE is mainly used in technology, industry, workshops and mechanical engineering, e.g. for enclosing machines. The foam is also used in recording studios, music rehearsal rooms and recording studios to improve sound quality.


How is soni WAVE installed?

soni SPECIAL ADHESIVE
Our soni SPECIAL ADHESIVE is an ideal adhesive for spot and full-surface fixation of sound-insulation materials and acoustic elements made of open-cell foam, especially melamine and PUR foams. The solvent-free, stable soni SPECIAL ADHESIVE provides excellent adherence to typical building materials, such as concrete, plaster, masonry, cement and wood. With the elastoplastic, single-component polymer adhesive, our open-cell foam panels can be glued directly to the wall or ceiling. Our soni SPECIAL ADHESIVE is available in 310-ml-cartridges, in sets of 6 or 12 cartridges. Please note: soni SPECIAL ADHESIVE is not suitable for PE foams such as soni RESIST. Keep out of reach of children!

Application of WIKO spray adhesive Preparation Make sure that the surfaces to be covered are clean, dry and free of dust and grease. Applying the adhesive Shake the spray can well. Spray a thin film of WIKO spray adhesive evenly onto both surfaces: both the sound insulation panel and the surface to be bonded, as it is a contact adhesive. Flash-off time Allow the adhesive to flash off for 3-5 minutes. The adhesive should feel tacky but no longer be wet. Bonding Press the two surfaces firmly together. Ensure that they are correctly aligned, as the contact adhesive will adhere immediately. Apply even pressure to ensure good adhesion. If necessary, you can use a roller or similar tool. Note: One spray can is sufficient for approx. 8-10 m².

Our soni MOUNTING PINS offer an easy and fast method for the installation of acoustic materials on smooth and clean surfaces.  soni MOUNTING PINS have a base plate with self-adhesive back. The high-quality adhesive ensures secure installation of our acoustic materials for the long term. Use the enclosed fixation disk to hold the noise protection material in place. And, as a last step, cover the tip of the steel pin with the protective cap. Mounted on the ceiling, soni TRAPEZ elements effectively absorb noise and reduce the reverberation level in interior spaces. soni TRAPEZ meets the fire safety standards relevant for the construction industry and has successfully passed the B1 test according to DIN 4102. Hence you can use soni TRAPEZ as a functional and decorative ceiling element wherever you need to reduce the noise level with materials that meet strict fire safety regulations. The trapeze-shaped acoustic baffels are highly resistant to aging, free of mineral fibers and physiologically safe. soni COMFORT is a very hard-wearing sound absorber made of a white PES non-woven fabric with exceptionally good sound-absorption capacity. In addition, soni COMFORT offers excellent fire-resistance values. soni COMFORT has been tested successfully according to the DIN 4102 fire safety standard and is classified as fire-retardant (B1). Therefore it is the material of choice for all applications requiring both an effective noise reduction and full compliance with fire safety regulations. When used as a ceiling element, soni COMFORT also fulfills the impact-resistance requirements according to DIN 18032-3 and is ideally suited for use in sports facilities and gymnasiums. What is more, soni COMFORT is aging-resistant, free of mineral fibers and physiologically perfectly safe. All this makes soni COMFORT a true all-rounder for effective sound-conditioning measures in a wide variety of room types. For covering entire wall or ceiling surfaces we recommend using soni COMFORT F.
